Sarah began her education at Merced College, where she earned an Associate’s degree in Mathematics. She later transferred to California State University Stanislaus and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science, with minors in Mathematics and Botany. Continuing her studies at CSU Stanislaus, she earned a Master’s degree in Ecology and Sustainability and was part of the first cohort of that program. Her classmates have since gone on to pursue a wide variety of career paths.
In 2014, Sarah founded Dark Gulch Environmental Consulting, initially focusing on biological surveys related to coastal development permitting. She also offered aquatic invasive species testing for fish farms, which naturally evolved into domestic water testing services. Starting with just seven clients, the business steadily grew and evolved over several years. Both she and Bradley worked for a company that provided valuable experience and knowledge that helped them develop and expand the business.
In 2023, Dark Gulch Environmental Consulting became Dark Gulch LLC, and Bradley officially became her business partner.
Since then, the business has experienced tremendous growth. Operating as a family business has proven to be one of the best decisions she could have made. It allows her to work alongside her son Bradley, her husband John, her adopted daughter Savannah, and a team of dedicated employees.
Being a family-run company provides the opportunity to stay deeply connected to the community, build something meaningful together, and deliver high-quality service to the community they serve.

Bradley is one of the owners of Dark Gulch and is in charge of operations.
He’s the one who shows up late at night, climbs down into the hole where the leak is, and later stands on the customer’s front porch covered in mud to let them know the problem has been taken care of.
He has been working in water treatment and construction since he was 18, and for several years he held the distinction of being the youngest licensed water treatment and distribution operator in California.
His education is in GIS mapping, and he attended both Mendocino College and Foothill College. For planning and environmental customers, any maps produced by Dark Gulch come from him.
Bradley considers this company one of the greatest things he has ever been a part of, and he truly lives and breathes the work. His goal is to help provide every client with the best possible experience when working with Dark Gulch.

John is Sarah’s husband and Bradley’s father. He is the unsung hero of Dark Gulch. John is a 28 year veteran of the EMS world, and as a licensed Paramedic he’s used to dealing with crisis. Whenever Dark Gulch has a fire to put out he’s the first one to jump in. John plays many roles in the company but is our chief diver. He started out as both an abalone & scuba diver before transition into the commercial world with the help of the Dark Gulch families
closest friend family member Kirk Marshall. He’s also a licensed water treatment & distribution operator just like Sarah & Bradley. Whether soaking wet, climbing out of a tank with 50lbs of gear, or dealing with an emergency, John is always there generally calm and collected (Unless there’s a frog to chase, in that case everybody scatter!)

Savannah is the newest addition to the Dark Gulch team, where she supports website design, social media, and a wide range of day-to-day operations. She also brings a positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever help is needed—something the rest of the team greatly appreciates.
Savannah is also Bradley’s partner, which means she has the unique experience of working alongside him both on the job and at home. Her patience, good humor, and ability to keep things running smoothly make her a great fit for the fast-paced environment at Dark Gulch.
Before joining the company, Savannah began her career as a licensed phlebotomist and later transitioned into healthcare education. This background gave her strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills—qualities that have proven incredibly valuable in her role with the team.
Whether she’s helping coordinate an emergency situation, managing the company’s online presence, or turning one of the team’s wild social media ideas into something creative and engaging, Savannah is always ready to jump in, stay positive, and help keep things moving forward
